Bridges on the Mississippi River

I like to build 3D buildings and bridges for Google Earth. This is a tour showing my bridges that are on Google Earth. The bridges span the Mississippi River in the US.Click the screen to bring up the tour controller ( I didn't make it an "autoplay" tour)

This is also a test of the Google Earth embed tour gadget.

Directions:
  1. Create the tour in Google Earth. Make sure you have the tour in the tour form. It looks like a small video camera in the sidebar. Right click on that and save the kmz to your computer.
  2. Next, it needs a unique url. I have a Google Sites website, so I uploaded my file to one of my pages.
  3. Right click on the file in the Google Sites page and choose "copy link"
  4. Paste the link to a simple text editor ( there is extra code in the link you have to get rid of)
  5. Here's the code ( see below) as it comes from the step above- notice that there is code AFTER the ".kmz" extension. Delete everything after ".kmz" ( shown in red)

    https://sites.google.com/site/berylsfamily/home/files/Play%20Me%21-turn%20on%203D%20Layer%20First.kmz?attredirects=0&d=1
  6. Now copy the cleaned up code to the clipboard
  7. Go to the "Embed Google Earth Tour" gadget: http://www.gmodules.com/ig/creator?synd=open&url=http://dl.google.com/developers/maps/tourgadget.xml    (this is not the same gadget as the "embed kml gadget". Don't get them mixed up! They look the same.
  8. Paste the code in the top box. Select the size, color border, options ( like 3D buildings )
  9. Preview in gadget to make sure it's working and you have the correct code.
  10. Copy the embed code at bottom
  11. Paste the embed code in your website/blog  ( use the html option if needed on the website)

  2. Hello Beryl,
Thanks so much for this wealth of information. I have been trying in vain for the last 2 months to get this working. I have checked out your bridges of the Mississippi tour and it works fine so I know I have the right plugins working. (Nice tour by the way).
I have made my tour and uploaded it to a google site and copied the link to the site, put it through the simple text edit and past it into the tour gadget bit nothing happens. Any idea's on what I'm doing wrong. If you can spear a moment I'd really appreciate any advice about this.
Here is my code link address if you have time to try it out.
    Thank you,
