Pizza in Brooklyn - another test

Test Post for Chris Forde's GE tour

*Chris Forde* This is the tour you created and posted on the GE help forum. I used the steps in my original direction post.

1. Added the kmz tour file to my Google Sites Page.
2. Control Clicked on the "download" icon on the Sites page and chose "copy link address"
3. Pasted into a plain text editor and deleted everything after ".kmz" obtained the following url

https://sites.google.com/site/berylsfamily/3d-view-test-page/test%20tour%20zowy.kmz

4. copied and pasted the url into the Tour Gadget
5. copied the embed code that was generated by the Gadget.-->

SketchFab Model via embed code

This is one of my favorite models, the old train that is on display in downtown Lowell, MA. It's on Google Earth too. The above version is an example of 3D rotational version generated by an awesome web service called SketchFab. The interactivity and resolution is better than the 3D embed model from 3D warehouse. ( I will post the same model as above, in the 3D warehouse version below.

Here's the warehouse version of same model:

Stillwater Lift Bridge Animation

This is an animation of one of the bridges that I created for Google Earth. It was animated with a free plugin for SketchUp called "Proper Animation". This post is also a test of the embed function from You Tube, where I originally posted the video.

Google Maps Embed Test

View London Trip in a larger map

This map is just a test of the embed features of Google Maps. It works quite well, in my opinion. This was a brief map of my fabulous trip to London in June of 2012. I was a presenter at the Dublin-London Google Teacher Institute. It was a few weeks before the 2012 Olympics, so it wasn't toooo crowded yet. The whole week was wonderful, in terms of weather ( perfect) and great locations to explore. We even crossed paths with the Queen in her carriage. She was on the way to a Jubilee celebration.

Bridges on the Mississippi River

I like to build 3D buildings and bridges for Google Earth. This is a tour showing my bridges that are on Google Earth. The bridges span the Mississippi River in the US.Click the screen to bring up the tour controller ( I didn't make it an "autoplay" tour)

This is also a test of the Google Earth embed tour gadget.

Directions:
  1. Create the tour in Google Earth. Make sure you have the tour in the tour form. It looks like a small video camera in the sidebar. Right click on that and save the kmz to your computer.
  2. Next, it needs a unique url. I have a Google Sites website, so I uploaded my file to one of my pages.
  3. Right click on the file in the Google Sites page and choose "copy link"
  4. Paste the link to a simple text editor ( there is extra code in the link you have to get rid of)
  5. Here's the code ( see below) as it comes from the step above- notice that there is code AFTER the ".kmz" extension. Delete everything after ".kmz" ( shown in red)

    https://sites.google.com/site/berylsfamily/home/files/Play%20Me%21-turn%20on%203D%20Layer%20First.kmz?attredirects=0&d=1
  6. Now copy the cleaned up code to the clipboard
  7. Go to the "Embed Google Earth Tour" gadget: http://www.gmodules.com/ig/creator?synd=open&url=http://dl.google.com/developers/maps/tourgadget.xml    (this is not the same gadget as the "embed kml gadget". Don't get them mixed up! They look the same.
  8. Paste the code in the top box. Select the size, color border, options ( like 3D buildings )
  9. Preview in gadget to make sure it's working and you have the correct code.
  10. Copy the embed code at bottom
  11. Paste the embed code in your website/blog  ( use the html option if needed on the website)
